Welcome back to the Send Your Kids to College blog! We use this blog to help students and families to better understand the many moving parts of planning for and paying for college. Things change, but one thing stays the same, we are here for WNY. If you or someone you know is struggling with a financial aid situation, don't hesitate to give us a call or reach out via our contact form. Today we're excited to announce that the 2025 Young Achievers Scholarship is OFFICIALLY OPEN! Let's take some time to talk about what that means for students of WNY!
A Unique Opportunity
This scholarship differs from most scholarships for a few reasons. For one, it's ONLY for YOUNG Achievers. What does this mean? Well, this means it's not for seniors entering college in the fall like most scholarships. We wanted to create something that helps to get younger students and families thinking about how they are going to pay for college EARLIER and feel this is a great way to help build awareness that it's never too early to start. The Young Achievers scholarship is eligible for high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors only. Another aspect that makes this scholarship different is the idea that it's specifically created only for students of Western New York. If you live in Erie, Niagara, or Genesee County, you can win!
Applying is a Great Practice
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take! Students need to know that they CAN win scholarships, so long as they apply. Another reason we promote the scholarship for younger students is that it starts the practice of applying. By getting started with this one, your kid will have already applied as a young student, so it will take some of the nerves and trepidation away from applying for others in the future!
$3000 In Scholarship Money
This year, we plan to give away $3000 in scholarship money for up to 3 students. The competition over the last few years has heated up, and it's been so difficult to choose winners based on the volume and quality of our applicants. In the grand scheme of paying for college, any money helps, but $1000 can help pay for books, technology, or whatever you choose. You can read this blog on what a scholarship can pay for to learn more.
Don't Wait, Apply Now!
We recommend your kid get their application in as soon as possible, but there is time. The deadline for the application will be July 1 of this year, but as we always say, you can never be too early when thinking about paying for college! By applying early, you get your name, and essay in front of our team sooner, and can make an early impression! The essay associated with the scholarship doesn't need to be too long but can help demonstrate why your kid deserves the scholarship over their WNY peers. We look forward to hearing why your student is a Young Achiever!
