5 Reasons to Apply for the Young Achievers Scholarship

Updated: Jun 19, 2023

We're getting close! If you're a student in Erie, Niagara, or Genesee County and you're graduating in 2024, 2025, or 2026, get on over to the Scholarship Application page by June 30th to get your chance to win one of 3 $1,000 scholarships! Today on the blog we want to let students and parents know a few reasons why it's a great idea to apply! Let's get into it!

It's Free

We recommend you apply to as many scholarships as you can! The more you apply for, the better your chances of lowering your college bill! We have a list of available scholarship applications here! Not every application is equal, but most are free to apply for, including the Young Achievers Scholarship here in WNY. All you need to do is fill out the application and give us a short mini-essay on what college means to you and your future. $1,000/hr isn't too shabby...

It's Simple.

If you received one of our mail applications, you still have time to mail it back, but if not, feel free to head over to our application page to apply online! We're only accepting the first 1,000 applicants, so if you haven't yet, get on over there!

College Costs Add Up.

We're a local, small nonprofit, so we understand that we aren't exactly sending someone to Harvard on a full-ride scholarship, but we also understand how far $1,000 can go when paying for college. As you embark on your college journey, you'll find many associative costs of college that may not be accounted for in your financial aid. $1,000 can help pay for books, a new laptop, or other materials. Check out this blog to learn what can or can't be paid for with a scholarship.

Your Chances Are High.

We only accept the first 1,000 applicants each year, because we want each student to feel like this isn't a waste of their time. We want students to enjoy this process and hope that it opens up the minds of students and families to the idea that applying for scholarships doesn't need to be stressful. Who knows, maybe your essay for this application might get you ahead on a few more applications!

It's Good Practice.

If this is your first scholarship application, that's ok! It's a perfect opportunity to get your feet wet and practice the process, as well as practice the essay portion. Other scholarships may not have an essay, but the quicker you get at the process the less work it will feel like in seeking other scholarships. If you have any questions about applying for other scholarships, you can always reach out or have a parent reach out to speak with a Certified College Planning Expert here at Send Your Kids to College!

We hope this helps students feel more comfortable in the application process and invite any parent or student to contact us with any questions. We provide help in just about every step of the college planning process, from tutoring and test prep to financial aid, to appealing financial aid and helping students better understand the cost of college, we're here for WNY!
